The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible community that reflects and responds to the needs of the communities we serve. AFP Nebraska embraces this commitment by creating a chapter where all individuals are respected, valued, and empowered to contribute.

We believe Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) are essential to strengthening philanthropy. By welcoming diverse perspectives, practicing empathy, and encouraging open dialogue, we create a culture of trust, integrity, and shared growth.

To reflect a diverse and inclusive community while strengthening our local and national impact through intentional IDEA practices.

Strategic Objectives & Actions

1. Leadership & Accountability

  • Participate in ongoing IDEA training and development as a Board

  • Ensure IDEA principles are embedded in governance and decision-making

  • Maintain and regularly review the Chapter’s IDEA Resolution

  • Identify IDEA champions within leadership to guide progress

2. Inclusive & Accessible Environment

  • Create welcoming, accessible spaces for all members and guests

  • Share tools and resources such as AFP Global’s Accessible Fundraising Toolkit

  • Ensure programs, events, and communications are inclusive across multiple dimensions of diversity

3. Representation & Belonging

  • Actively work to build leadership, volunteer, and membership representation that reflects our communities

  • Reduce barriers to participation in board and volunteer roles

  • Expand outreach to underrepresented and geographically diverse fundraising professionals

4. Membership Growth & Access

  • Utilize IDEA scholarship opportunities to expand access to AFP membership

  • Encourage diverse professionals to join and engage in AFP Nebraska

  • Support AFP Global efforts by encouraging members to share demographic information

5. Education & Engagement

  • Host IDEA-focused programming and integrate IDEA principles across all educational offerings

  • Share AFP Global affinity group opportunities and resources

  • Foster conversations that elevate diverse voices and lived experiences in philanthropy

6. IDEA Champion Commitment

AFP Nebraska commits to maintaining IDEA Champion status by:

  • Advancing IDEA as a strategic priority

  • Implementing and evolving our IDEA Plan

  • Hosting IDEA-centered programs and events

  • Tracking progress and engaging members in IDEA initiatives
