Join AFP-Nebraska for our April meeting, which will be a luncheon at The Omaha Marriott Regency.

In this session, we'll talk about the keys to building a strong, collaborative relationship between your Finance and Development teams. Creating synergy between these two departments will not only result in a healther work environment, it will foster stronger relationships with all your contstituents, and help your non-profit meet its financial goals.

Jim Gustafson serves as Director of Advancement and Gift Planning for the Nebraska Community Foundation. Jim provides a wide range of supportive charitable gift planning services for donors and professional advisors. He uses a three-step process to help donors achieve their charitable objectives. The first step is helping people to determine the use of their charitable gift. Secondly, he provides educational information of the various charitable gift options that are available. Finally, he provides assistance to people and their professional advisors in implementing their gift plans.

For the past 30 years Jim has worked in various areas of estate and financial planning. He has served on the planned giving staffs of the University of Nebraska Foundation and The Salvation Army.

Jim consults and lectures on various topics related to charitable gift planning and fundraising. He has led workshops for financial advisors and volunteers throughout the state of Nebraska and in several other states. He has been a speaker at the National Conference on Planned Giving. Jim and his wife, Terri, have three daughters and three sons-in-law. Jim grew up in Ralston, Nebraska, and his wife Terri is a native of Burwell, Nebraska. 

Jason Kennedy joined the Nebraska Community Foundation in 2016 as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. He is  responsible for accounting, financial reporting, investment, regulatory and compliance, human resources and administrative matters for Nebraska Community Foundation. He works closely with the development team, fund advisory committee members and investment managers to provide topnotch service to NCF's affiliated funds and donors.

Jason spent most of his professional career with the University of Nebraska Foundation working his way from junior accountant to the position of senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.

His previous experience included being a member of the executive team with primary responsibility for managing the financial assets of the foundation. He was the key liaison responsible for working with the foundation’s investment, finance and audit committees and implementing strategic plans with the board of directors. Jason also served as treasurer for the Nebraska Alumni Association and other affiliated entities of the Foundation. He has worked with donors regarding all kinds of gift types, including life income arrangements.

Jason is a member of Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a volunteer coach for numerous youth sports leagues. He and his wife, Tracia, have three teenage sons who attend Norris Public Schools.
